All birds on this page were seen out birding for the day with Tim Cockcroft. Highly recommended if you are in the area and want to see many birds. We saw over 70 different species with him. Lots more to come, watch this space.

ReplyDeleteThanks you Marie, I have a very soft heart for the birds of prey. Keep well Diane
DeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope you are well. Diane
DeleteHi Diane - love seeing them ... the Tinkerbird ... never heard of them, and the fan-tailed Widowbird - just beautiful (both of them to see) ... gorgeous shots - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary, the Tinkerbird was new to me as well. Despite having lived in Southern Africa for 50 years I did not know it existed!! My camera lens was playing up so I missed a few photos but I was still happy with what I got. Cheers Diane
DeleteThat fantailed is aptly named. And the tinkerbird is a new one for me. Wow. As always, extraordinary images. Beautiful species, all of them!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you decided to stop by I'd Rather B Birdin today and take time to share your link! Thanks.
South Africa never ceases to amaze me with its bird life. Spending a day out with an expert was very special and educational. Cheers Diane
DeleteGreat shots! These are interesting birds.
ReplyDeleteWe always seem to find a bird that I have not seen before when visiting RSA. The Tinkerbird was certainly a new one for us this trip. Have a good day Diane
DeleteSplendid pictures - I really do want to go to Southern Africa.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
If you go,I highly recommend a day out with Tim he is really good. Cheers Diane
DeleteHello Diane. All of those birds would be new except for one which I am sure you can guess. I was interested that your garden birds have dried up except for the House Sparrow - here just the opposite with 99% Goldfinch and I can not remember the last time I saw a House Sparrow here in our semi rural location. The world has indeed turned rather strange.
ReplyDeleteGlad to show you a few new birds and some new to me as well!! I will send you over some House Sparrows we have plenty to spare 😊 Have a good week Diane
DeleteIt seems you had an excellent guide, Diane, who found you some very exciting birds. I'm impressed that you managed so well with your bird photography with a mal-focussing camera!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you and Nigel - - - Richard
Thanks Richard it was very frustrating with a lens that either would not focus, or if it did focus, half the time when I pressed the button nothing happened and no photo. So many misses I am sad to say and so many out of focus. I missed some rally good shots. You are though lucky to see any that are in focus and the next posts will not be nearly as good.
DeleteAll he best to you both, Diane
These are wonderful shots!!!! What colorful birds are there with you!
ReplyDeleteHave good Day
Elke
Thanks Elkes for the kind comment and the visit. Have a good day, Diane
