ReplyDeleteThanks Anni and I enjoyed seeing your sketches. Have a good week Diane
DeleteGreat behaviour pictures of the heron!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Thanks for the visit Stewart. Hope all is well in your part of the world. Cheers Diane
DeleteSome giants of the bird world there Diane. The Martial Eagle's dimensions are really astounding. It must be able to sudbue very large prey. Same with that Kingfisher, look out big fish below! It's the one I saw in Gambia a number of years ago- Megaceryle maxima
ReplyDeleteThe Giant Kingfisher I think covers most of Central and Southern Africa. The Martial Eagle really is beautiful, and yes it will take smaller antelopes, and if it gets the chance goat kids and lambs. They do not want to stray into farming areas or they end up being poisoned which is happening to many of the big birds of prey 😒 Man has so much to answer for!! Keep well Diane
DeleteGreat shots. The Martial eagle looks is beautiful and fierce looking!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam, they are lovely looking birds but I agree it has a very fierce look about it. Keep well Diane.
DeleteI love your birds! I especially like your eagles. Pretty exciting birding over there!
ReplyDeleteI do love birding in RSA,I find the birds generally much more exciting than our local ones. Thanks so much for the visit and the comment. Have a good day Diane
DeleteHi Diane - beautiful shots ... particularly the Martial eagle. I spent time with some friends in Marondera, east of Harare and they had rescue animals - one was a Bataleur ... always fascinating - gorgeous shots ... just love seeing them. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI do love the Bateleurs, they are so acrobatic to watch in the air. I lived in Marondera, but then it was called Marandellas for a couple of years. We ran a racing stable and a dairy there. Hope you are well, cheers Diane
DeleteThese birds look a little wilder in nature than the previous pics.
