05/12/2020 A few birds seen out walking.

Well, this was not out walking, but a face on the window sill.
Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus).

Common crane (Grus grus) flying South for winter...

Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra)

This was so far away I was not sure what I was taking a photo of. Only after downloading did I discover it was a Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius).

Also only discovered what these were the I got home. Two European goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis).

    1. We are lucky enough to see the cranes twice a year, we are right on their flight path. Keep well.

  2. Your photos of the birds in flight are super. Amazing the bird can land on that barbed wire. Wonder does it get hurt?

  6. It must be very exciting to wait for the cranes in spring and autumn. Visible migration isn't so obvious with smaller birds.

I wonder when you photographed the Whinchat? I thought they were all in Africa by now. They are pretty scarce up here in recent years.

Enjoy the weekend Diane. It's a good thing that the shortest day is close. Our days are 8 until 4 just now.

    1. Hi Phil, Whinchat was taken 24 November. Answering this a bit late, I seem to keep running out of time. Everything seems late. I saw cranes flying over today out walking, 17 December, I have never seen them this late.
Keep safe and take care Diane
