Still lots of tits but we did see the cranes as well.

Photography has not been easy, we have had dull grey days with lots and lots of rain!!

Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) hanging on the window shutters...

As above - on the window sill turning its back on me...

and looking around...

finding a wire to swing on.

Great Tit (Parus major).

Common crane (Grus grus). The main migration is October to December with them wintering at various places stretching from north-eastern France to Morocco, with various locations in between, however, the majority will probably end up in Spain.  We are lucky enough to live on their migration route.

as above.

    1. Hilary it is so special to have those cranes overhead twice a year and they are so noisy they are hard to miss. The blue tits are the very brave ones, they are always around the window and they are so acrobatic, great fun to watch, just wish I had more time to waste 😊
Keep well and take care, this COVID is not going to go away quietly me thinks.
      Cheers Diane

  4. Never see cranes here Diane. The sight and sound of those must be wonderful. We're to be in full lockdown too. I despair of our "leaders" and the mainstream media for prolonging this. Digging ever larger holes in which to bury themselves and us.

    1. I heard the cranes again yesterday but they were a bit far over for photos, stunning sight though.
If only every one would be sensible COVID might come under control, but all the time people are daft enough to party it will keep going! Take care and stay safe. Diane

  9. You made me wonder? Do you get Coal Tits in your garden. We get lots up at our ringing site because there are conifers nearby but very few here in the suburban garden.

We seem to have a pass for outdoor activities with friends as long as it's just one. Just as well I don't have any friends! But ringing tends to be ones or two and rarely in groups. And now we seem to have two fine days together. Wonders never cease.

    1. Hi Phil. we are overrun with blue tits and great tits but I have never seen any other tits (birds that is) around here. I have seen the long tailed-tit further south but not here. It is rare we see anything much different here sadly. Diane
