Little Owl (Athene noctua) returns to the barn roof.
Ignoring me...
Completely!
I then returned to the house and wondered if I could see it from the kitchen window. Hey presto, there it was as close as I have ever seen it. I was also delighted to see a Barn swallow, (Hirundo rustica). I have been concerned as there just seems to have been none around this year.
Watching me watching you..
I just love this bird.
Ignoring me yet again. 😉

It is an amazing creature! Gotta love that face!
ReplyDeleteI am just so happy to see it after hearing them close by for years and never seeing them, suddenly this summer I have seen it so many time. It is an absolute delight. Happy Weekend Diane
DeleteI get the impression that the Little Owl is quite used to seeing you now Diane. If you were a threat, it would fly away.
ReplyDeleteHave a warm weekend.
Phil it was on the barn for a long time last night. I am sure there are many bugs to be seen in the field at the back of our barn where the farmer keeps his sheep. The fact that it now is starting to ignore me is a pleasure as I get to see it closer, and as you say it has obviously got used to me. The weekend looks like nice weather, hope it is good for you also. Diane
DeleteAwwww, still, I am so in love with this owl! (And jealous of such a close proximity of it). Your photos are dazzling!
ReplyDeleteWe all, at I'd Rather B Birdin', appreciate you sharing with us. Thanks!
LOL that makes two of in love with this owl. I have only ever seen the two together once and I was not quick enough with the camera. This one just seems to have recently taken a liking to our barn, long may it last. Have a great day, Diane
DeleteThat is just the cutest little guy I've ever seen! I still haven't seen one in the wild! Maybe this Fall! You take the best photos...you had a great view! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little owl. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful little bird - glad to see the swallow as well, a few people have being saying that they have not seen many this year.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
