Not the most interesting fortnight but what we have in the garden!!

House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) sharing the water with a bee

Common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus).  Is this what being pigeon-toed means?


Common blackbird (Turdus merula).

Common starling (Sturnus vulgaris)...

and I think this is a young starling...

Now I know what happens to my mint - mint flavoured Sparrows!!

It has been a wet week and all photos again in the garden.

Common blackbird (Turdus merula)...

Birds in our French garden this week. Too wet to go out much.

Eurasian or common blackbird (Turdus merula) in hiding

Moving a little closer.

European goldfinch  (Carduelis carduelis) with female House sparrow to the left...

I have only seen one this year, there used to be dozens around!

Eurasian collared doves (Streptopelia decaocto) with house sparrows (Passer domesticus).

Common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus)  drinking...

 Paddling - a bit small for bathing!...

Checking out the garden for food - Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops).

04/11/2018 Birds seen in the garden and overhead this week in France.

Eurasian Blue Tit. (Cyanistes caeruleus).  We never see them in summer but they return in winter,  here they are on the window sill asking for food...

The Great tit (Parus major), also not very visible in summer but they return for winter food...

and I think a female blackbird if not a juvenile!

Common cranes (Grus grus), also known as the Eurasian crane, calling and milling around overhead yesterday waiting presumably for a bigger group ready to fly South...
