08/05/2023 A few more bird photos from South Africa.

 I hope my ID's are correct but if you think differently please let me know. Thank you.

Southern Red Bishop bird (Euplectes orix).

As above.

Amur Falcon (Falco amurensis).

Helmeted guineafowl (Numida meleagris)...

As above.

Black-headed heron (Ardea melanocephala) - juvenile...

As above - adult.

Cattle egrets (Bubulcus ibis) with Buffalo.

African Hoopoe (Upupa africana) ...

As above.

Yellow-billed kite (Milvus aegyptius).

As above.

Possibly an African pipit but I am not convinced. Thanks to Nathalie, it is indeed a Pipit and is a Yellow-breasted Pipit (Anthus chloris).

Collared sunbird (Hedydipna collaris).

Red-fronted tinkerbird, (Pogoniulus pusillus)...

Jackal Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus)...

As above.

Green Wood Hoopoe (Phoeniculus purpureus), formerly known as the Red-billed wood hoopoe.

Lesser masked weaver (Ploceus intermedius), female.

Amethyst Sunbird I think (Chalcomitra amethystina).

Pearl-breasted swallow (Hirundo dimidiata).

White-faced whistling duck (Dendrocygna viduata).

Yellow-breasted apalis (Apalis flavida).

    Très belle collection ! Il y a des espèces que je n'ai pas très bien photographiées moi. Comme l'irrisor. Bravo pour ce portrait. C'est bien le Souimanga améthyste.
    Ton apalis est très beau ! Et en effet le pipit est une Sentinelle à gorge jaune peut être car on ne voit pas la poitrine, mais sentinelle c'est sûr.
    L Amérique du Sud est formidable pour les oiseaux mais j'aime aussi très fort les oiseaux d'Afrique.

  3. What spectacular creatures. Amazing to see different species of the same variety of bird we have here, like the heron. Love the new ones I have never seen too, like the hoopoe! Fantastic shots, Diane. Thank you for sharing them.

    2. Had a look at the Pit Stop and do not think it is what i want as I only post when i have time and I do not want news letters etc. Hopefully you will look in here from time to time and also my photodiarydas.

  6. Hello :=) What an amazing variety of African birds none of which I have heard of. Lovely selection of these beauties. A few which stand out for me are the Red fronted tinkerbird, and the Green Wood Hoopoe, also the Yellow breasted apalis, but there are a host of other showy African birds that I would love to see in the wild as you have done.

  7. Hi Diane. I'm glad that you pointed me in this direction. What a splendid array of birds you are presenting here. I particularly enjoyed the Green Wood Hoopoe, and the Red-fronted Tinkerbird sooks like a real character!
