14/06/2022 A new visitor to the garden.....

Apologies for no blogs.  We have a lot going on in our lives at the moment. Hopefully, July will be calmer.

Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius).
The first arrival here in the garden was in May. I have seen them often nearby, but in heavily wooded areas and I have never managed a photo of this very shy bird.

Then in June I managed a few more photos.

Then last week there were two 😊

See also my Photodairy with lots of flowers and insects.

  1. What a spectacular bird with that shot of blue which resembles the colour of the blue jays here. Great photos!

  2. Bonjour Diane,
    J'espĂšre que tout va bien et que les occupations sont bonnes.
    Tu as de la chance d'avoir le geai dans le jardin. Chez moi il passe sans s'arrĂȘter.
    Gros bisous et reste au frais.

  3. Nice work Diane. I could never hope to picture a Jay so well over here. It's because they are shy and regarded as "vermin" by the shooting brigade.

    1. Thanks Phil, I only got so close because it was through the window. Even then if I move too quickly they are gone. I prefer to have them around rather than the two Magpies that visit!. Hope all is well, Diane

    1. Thanks Hilary, we are just a bit too busy at the moment, but I am hoping July will be better!!! Things in the house should settle down and the garden should be easier (I hope). Cheers and keep well Diane

  6. Wonderful bird - and so noisy as well as bright. Hope things are OK with you.

    Sorry for the long gap between visits / comments, the last few months have been strange to say the least. Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

  7. Hello :=)
    I love these captures of the Eurasian Jay. I see them daily but if they see me, they quickly fly away. The large images are spectacular. Nice to see you on my blog.:=)
    All the best
