Common cranes (Grus grus), also known as the Eurasian crane flying South over the house. It is a good job they are so noisy or I would have missed them...

They were milling around a bit and these were heading in the wrong direction!
Just down the road the other day I spotted these starlings...
A small murmuration. I saw a great murmuration in the UK last year so hoping to get some better photos of them over the Christmas period whenI will be there again.

Beautiful birds. I especially like the robin. Reading your post it reminded me I never saw a robin last spring or summer. It was probably far too hot.
ReplyDeleteThe robin arrives only when it is cold and it knows there is easy food around!! Have a good week Diane
DeleteP.S. Those are wonderful shots of the partridge. A beautiful bird it is too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny, it is a very striking bird, beautiful markings. Keep well Diane
DeleteThe red legged partridge is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI agree it is a very pretty bird. Have a good day Diane
DeleteThe markings on the partridge are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely bird and I have so appreciated having it around for the past 10 days. Maybe it will stay longer. Cheers Diane
DeleteThe Starling is much underrated Diane. I rather like them. I'm sure you will see many in the UK in mid-winter, perhaps even a murmuration depending upon where you are.
ReplyDeleteHi Phil, we will be in Wiltshire and thay are certainly around that area according to the list. We saw them last year driving home after Christmas lunch. Sadly nowhere to stop the car but I got a reasonable drive by shot. Enjoy the remainer of the week. Diane
DeleteHello! Great photos! The European Robin is beautiful. The Red-legged Partridge looks so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anu, the robin is so much part of Christmas and it is the only time we see one here. The Partridge was still around this morning though I have not seen it all day. Have a good day Diane
