The wanderers have returned......

We have not seen a Greenfinch or a Goldfinch in months and suddenly they both turned up today.

European greenfinch, (Chloris chloris) male...

As above and I think female...

and another male.

European goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)...

As above...

As above.

House sparrows (Passer domesticus) taking a bath. Just love the expression on the female's face while she is being splashed ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Beautiful finches! Birds have been scarce here all winter, but the past couple of weeks I've seen them coming back.

    1. We have had masses of sparrows and tits over winter, but no finches which is unusual. Happy weekend Diane

  3. Even Greenfinch and Goldfinch are partially migratory Diane. I think this may be signs of spring for you. Have great birding weekend.

    1. We used to have them here for winter so it makes me wonder where they now go and perhaps the have a better restaurant than what I provide!! Hope your weekend is a good one Diane

  4. Wonderful pictures. We have both of these finches here as introduced species, but I down see them very often.
