Very little time for photos since returning to France, but here are a few from February in the garden.

A face at the window ... Great Tit (Parus major)

Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) Male...

and a pair of Chaffinches.

Despite clean water being put out for them daily the sparrows still go to the pot plants for a drink!!
House Sparrow (Passer domesticus.) both males.

House sparrow in the cherry tree. Male.

Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) Female.

European Greenfinch,  (Chloris chloris).

European robin (Erithacus rubecula).

  1. I can't take many photos in the garden. They would be 99% Goldfinches. I wonder Diane if your local Goldfinches are garden feeders? Here in the UK they are now possible the most common garden bird.

    1. We used to have masses of Goldfinches and suddenly they have just disappeared ??? I saw only a couple last year, and not one so far this year! I do not mind that much as they used to be very stroppy and chase the other birds away!
I just do not have the time to go anywhere much, and where I can go involves a lot of walking. In winter I do not enjoy the cold. I also wish I could find someone to walk with but I do not know any birders closeby.
      Keep well and warm, Diane

  4. Hi Diane. I'm sorry that you can not see your Little Owls at the moment. Dawn and dusk or very cold weather is best but I guess you have none of the latter. Your Blue Tits will be in local woods in the summer but a nest box or two might bring them into your summer garden.

    1. There are too many barns around us where the owls often hide and I cannot just walk onto other people's land. I have not even discovered where they are nesting despite asking around where they seem to be most of the time. I have nesting boxes up in the garden but they have been totally ignored by all and sundry!! Have a good week Diane

  5. The first little bird with its feathers and chest all puffed out is such a cutie.
