Rubbish weather and a series from the archives!

I just enjoyed this series of photos of what I believe to be young Common Redstart.
Common redstart - (Phoenicurus phoenicurus).

Looking a little bedraggled after having had fun in the water.

These little birds winter over in Africa...

but return to Europe to breed in summer.

As I said these are photos from my archives but they should have returned again by now...

Hopefully, I will be seeing some around very soon....

  1. They are cute little birds. The weather seems to be rubbish everywhere. It is still inclement where I live though I am happy we are getting more sunshine once more.

    1. Thanks Anni. and thank you to you for hosting. I hope they return soon. I find summer far more difficult than winter to take photos of birds. Not only am I busier, but the birds do not come to the garden so often and we have nowhere nearby that I can go and just sit and wait. Have a good week Diane

  5. That is a lovely series of photos Diane. I hardly ever see Redstarts nowadays so that is a treat. So sorry to hear about those Robins. Unfortunately, this is a too common occurrence. We have a rogue cat next door to us and I have tried all sorts to keep it away from our garden birds - Jeyes Fluid, white pepper and citrus, but it is not easy. The house is for sale so we are hoping they will go soon and take their cat with them!

Have a good week. We're in Menorca from Friday.
