European robin (Erithacus rubecula),..
As above..
Ass above...
As above.
House Sparrow (Passer domesticus)...
As above but a family affair.
P.S.
Maybe someone can enlighten me.
Just read this article on the Internet. I would like to know more. What happens to the birds and other animals that eat the poisoned rodents? If the whole of North and South Island NZ are involved as this states it sounds more than drastic to me.

I smiled at the family affair. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI have seen up to 8 sparrows all trying to get i at the same time, great fun. Have a good week Diane
DeleteWhat cute photos! Looks like fun for the whole family!
ReplyDeleteThey really are fun to watch, they all seem to enjoy it so much. Keep well Diane
DeleteThe book I am reading right now tells of farmers/poisoning grasshoppers...hawks eating grasshoppers...dying by the hundreds. Sad.
ReplyDeleteYour European robins are much prettier than American robins!
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your post with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend.
I must say I love our robins here and they are much prettier than the South African robins also.
DeleteIt is really sad how easy it is to just right off so many animals through trying to remove pests with poison. There has to be other ways!!!!
Take care Diane
Delightful, Diane - especially that last image!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the time to just sit watching the bird bath but sadly i don't. I am sure I miss some great photos.
DeleteHave a great week Diane
They are loving your birdbath ! The family one is super special!
ReplyDeleteThere are sometimes many of them all trying to get in at once, I will have to try and get some photos but I do not have the time to just sit quietly and wait! Hope all is well, Diane
DeleteWonderful pictures - that Robin looks very dapper. (The use of 1080 is controversial in Australia as well)
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
I do love the robin but generally we never see them once it has warmed up. We are good for winter 'cause there is food around but they obviously have better places to raise a family!! Cheers Diane
DeleteGreat shots! Love the birdbath too.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what they use for a bird bath, they are not interested in anything normal 😊 Take care Diane
DeleteWhat a beautiful bird bath (top photos) and such lovely photos of the little birds taking a splash. I haven't even got my bird bath cleaned out and filled but there was a bit of water in it from spraying the garden. A little sparrow came to splash around yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to keep your neighbour's cat off your property!! My SIL is very upset, the neighbour's cat has killed a pair of robins on my FIL's property where she is caring for him, vert sad she was so looking forward to seeing baby robins. Take care and enjoy your weekend Diane
DeleteYes I thought of that because the little cat is also a hunter. She killed a mouse at 3 months old.
DeleteIf a bird eats enough of poison, immediate or accumulated it to will die. It's shocking what is happening.
ReplyDeleteI am not seeing any Robins in Menorca. I think they are rare winter visitors here.
Phil was so upset when I read that article. What is the human race doing to the wild life, how long before there is nothing left to poison!! This is a whole country concerned.
DeleteOur robin is only a winter visitor, I took these photos a few days before it disappeared. They are around in France but not in our garden!!
Have a good weekend. Diane
