The Little owl visits again and a visit to the Touvre River in the Charente.

Guess who has been visiting again - Little owl (Athene noctua)....

I managed to sneak a little closer this time.

Mute swans (Cygnus olor)...

as above...

The ugly duckling - only one youngster hope it survives.

Probably two Mallard females (Anas platyrhynchos).

I think this is a Pied wagtail (Motacilla alba)...

as above...

As above.

    1. I also love owls that are certainly different form the average bird. Hopefully with only one youngster to look after the parents will be doubly aggressive to predators. Have a good day Diane

  3. Awesone photos! I don't get to see these here in USA so, a bit of feathered 'eye candy' for me today. Love the fact your owl has returned!

    1. Thanks Anni, the owl is generally only heard and not seen so I have been more than lucky the last couple of weeks. Seldom I get a chance to see birds near water, so the swans and the wagtail were a change for me as well. Love sharing with you. Have a great week, Diane

  6. I think you made a new friend there Diane. By now, I'm surprised that bu July you haven't seen evidence of a family? I find that sometimes Little Owls can be quite confiding, especially the young ones. Looks like the wagtails have young too.

    Have a good weekend.

    1. Phil I am sure there is a family around as I hear calling coming from all directions. The one that I see I am certain though is always the same one. The barn overlooks a field where they put sheep and I am sure that the insect life there is excellent. Yes the wagtail certainly had a mouthful. Hope all is well, Diane
